Sala Traditional Ritual Held at Imam Reza Holy Shrine on First Day of Muharram
IQNA – A traditional ritual called Sala was held at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad, northeast Iran on Sunday morning, the first day of the lunar Hijri month of Muharram.
Sala means call, declaration and invitation. The ritual, which includes recitation of poems and elegies with the theme of mourning the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), has been held every year for over three centuries.
